Seven Steps
to Happier Living
Step One: Affirm that Life is meant to
be a JOYFUL experience.
You might have to just assume this concept is true. Fake it till
you make it! Try on this attitude and see what difference it makes
in your life and your experiences. Part of being happy in a very
strange and complex world, is trusting that there is a divine
purpose and reason for all of this insanity and misery.
This world is a schoolhouse and we are all students
in it. We are here with free will to do as we please and we are
not interrupted by the divine as we learn from the results of
our actions and choices.
If you can accept the idea that there is a way to be happy in
spite of all the so-called negative events that happen in the
world, you will be able to create a life that is not only happy,
but joyous.
Step Two: Accept that You are a Divine
Spirit with a Divine Mission.
We are all created equal on a spiritual basis. We are all divine
spirits of holy origin. However, on the physical/material plane
of life, this third dimension reality, we are vastly different
and unequal in talents, skills, knowledge, physical attributes,
and mental faculties, ad infinitum.
Since we are all so different in so many ways, there is obviously
an individual design for each life of each soul born on this planet.
The gifts you came in with are the gifts you are to give to the
planet. Many people die with their gift ungiven, or as some say,
“their song, unsung.” Due to various circumstances
they have either hidden their specialness or were unaware of their
unique qualities.
So, it is a matter of taking stock of what you came in with.
List all of your attributes and all of your challenges and look
deep into your heart for your passion. What is it you want to
accomplish and/or experience in this wonderful material dimension
of life?
My personal thought is that we are all here to experience the
divine energy of the force of the universe (God) and allow that
magnificent energy to course through us and direct our actions,
thoughts and experience. We are the lips, hands, feet of the most
holy. To allow and surrender to this power in living our lives
is to be of the greatest service to mankind.
Step Three: Commit Yourself to being the
Solution, instead of the Problem.
Whatever place you find yourself in at this moment, whatever
your race, age, gender, nationality, you can turn things around
to suit you better if you do not experience the happiness you
desire. Start doing something for someone else. Get out of your
own way. Happiness is a by-product of action. It creeps up on
you when you least expect it.
Involvement in life and doing what is before you is critical.
We put forth effort to clear our thinking and change circumstances
by creating better thoughts and watching our thought processes.
Setting goals, even small ones at first, are necessary so you
can monitor your progress. We need measured results or we don’t
feel that we are going anywhere.
Problems in our life are easily corrected when we take full responsibility
for their existence in our lives due to our vibrational output
of attraction. Raising our vibration is of the utmost importance.
Meditation, nature walks, contemplation and prayer for assistance
from those in higher realms can help raise our consciousness and
vibrational frequency.
When we see and own our own divinity (“we are a chip off
of the old block,” as they say) and focus on the divinity
in all other people, events and places, we will be the human beings
that we were meant to be. Fully operational, fully lit, fully
divine.
I AM OPEN AND READY TO RECEIVE THE DIVINE PURPOSE FOR MY LIFE.
I AM READY TO GIVE UP EXCUSES AND TO POUR FORTH EFFORT TO COMPLETE
MY CHOSEN MISSION HERE ON EARTH.
Step Four: Open up to Changes in your
life. Be Adventuresome.
Develop courage and let go of fearful projections about what
might or might not happen. Get ready to rock and roll! Your life
is going to go through changes…the new thoughts that you
are thinking are going to produce change and very rapid change
at that! Manifestation happens at a much faster rate than say
20 or 30 years ago. The vibration on the planet has sped up and
our thinking produces results sometimes within minutes of thinking
the thought.
Be a gatekeeper of your thoughts. Be careful of what you entertain
in your mind. It is real and has an effect on your life. When
the negatives and “downer” thoughts appear cancel
them out or say the word, “transmute”…do not
give them space or room in your mind.
The “Atom Bomb” of energy that is within you and
always has been in you, but covered by depression, lack of spiritual
knowledge and unawareness of your holiness, is about to explode
into action!
You can become quite uneasy at the rush of energy and the waves
of new thoughts that enter your mind. Be strong, be courageous,
and know that your higher self and your spiritual guides have
you quite within their sights! They will not let you fail or stumble
any longer. You are now walking the holy path of your spiritual
journey home. Get plenty of rest, good food, and good water and
fill your mind with higher thought through reading, listening
to uplifting audio books, music, meditating and living life from
your heart center.
Don’t drop the ball when the opportunities start to knock
on your door. As they say, face the fear and do it anyway. You
are destined for greatness and insecurity and fear have to be
released to the nothingness from which they came. If you want
your life to stay the same without the changes that are destined
to happen through your new thinking processes, then you will have
to live the life you are living at present. It is your choice.
Step Five: Go Easy on Yourself and Others.
Treat Yourself and Others as the VIPs you are.
Treat yourself with the love and tenderness that you would imagine
a holy master, whoever that might be to you, i.e., Jesus, Buddha,
Krishna, Mohammed, Babaji, St. Therese, etc. would treat you,
if you were in their presence. Gentleness is compassion, which
is love, in action.
When we treat ourselves with kindness and gentleness, and realize
we will never in all of eternity be separated from our self, we
are then on the way to winning at the game of happiness. When
we become our most supportive friend, we then can be supportive
to others in a very real way. It is a matter of honoring ourselves
and realizing that we are indeed holy beings of great worth, no
matter what our past has been or what our present circumstances
are.
Another concept to “try on” and practice, is that
we are not alone on our journey here on earth. We are surrounded
at all times by spiritual beings from many realms that support
us and are there for us. We must ask them for their help as they
cannot “butt into” our life experiences. At first
this might seem strange, to imagine disembodied beings surrounding
us and being very aware of our thoughts and our experiences. However,
when this idea is realized and you begin communication through
addressing them and actually talking out loud to them, you will
be reassured of their integrity and loving support in your life.
Step Six: Live in the Now as often as
you can.
Living in the now, means full attention on whatever you are involved
with or doing. No daydreaming while you are driving your car.
No thinking of Hawaii while you are operating machinery at work.
It means attention to the job at hand. When you are living fully
in the now, you totally feel your experiences and remember them.
If, however, you walk through your life in a trance, you will
not be fully present and experience the joy of each moment. The
past and the future are robbers of the precious moment we are
living in. To dwell on either is to deny life as it is given to
you. Each moment has a gift of joy, understanding, wisdom and
a blessing.
Watch how your mind takes you off course and you find your thoughts
drifting to a past experience or a future daydream while you are
listening to someone speak or while you are engaged in some activity.
There is a time for contemplating the past or planning the future,
but not while you are preparing dinner for the children or talking
with a client. Full attention is needed to feel your life. How
many times do you eat your food and then realize you didn’t
even taste it? That is because your mind was in the control booth
and your body and taste buds were in second place.
It takes practice and attention, but is well worth the effort.
You will actually have a more fulfilled sense of your life and
all of its activities. To be present in the present moment is
a skill well worth practicing.
Step Seven: Don’t take other peoples
opinions Personally.
There is a wonderful book entitled, “What you think of
me is none of my Business!” by Terry Cole-Whittaker. Most
of us want others to think highly of us. We worry about what “they”
think about us. “They” are also thinking about what
we think of them! Isn’t this ridiculous? It is a waste of
time and energy.
If we stop thinking about others and their thoughts about us,
we have more time and room in our minds for positive thoughts.
That’s when affirmations become our best friends! In the
book, “The Game of Life and How to Play It” by Florence
Scovel Shinn, there are wonderful affirmations that when repeated
on a daily basis help to change the circumstances of our lives.
Time spent on upgrading our thoughts and intentions will pay off
in joy, happiness, abundance in all good things and lighten our
days.
To change thinking patterns you need repetition of the new thoughts
to overlap the old thinking. How long have you been thinking the
same old thoughts that you are currently thinking? Probably years
and years. You are probably totally bored with how your mind works.
That is why TV has such a hold on people. We do not want to be
alone with our thoughts, they are too depressing.
Most thoughts are negative tapes that we have accepted since
we were children and think are the truth about us. These tapes
are lies for the most part. Unwind them like unwinding a cassette
tape and throw them in the garbage! Put new powerful ideas in
your mind and concentrate on your worthiness and value and blessedness.
Live up to your potential as an incredible human being. It is
there for you if you dump the garbage and let each moment be brand
new and be present.
While on your conscious journey of self-discovery and knowledge,
stay committed to the task by keeping it fun and light. Don’t
let stress and impatience detour you. Remember that the first
step is that Life is meant to be a Joyful experience. Go easy
on yourself and validate your progress. You are in process, it
is a lifelong journey. It gets better and better, easier and easier.
Conscious awareness of your choices, your wants, your agendas,
your motives and your goals will fill your life with the joyful
experiences and prosperous living that you deserve.
It’s all about waking up and acknowledging that you are
a divine and powerful being with much to give and receive.
Namaste!
